| I love gospel music when the after Sabbath jokes by various groups stay within bounds. The jokes are where I feel gospel singers get it wrong. My church in Michigan heard the King's Herald group a few times but recently banned them because they failed to prohibit applause. Well, traditional Adventist applause ("amen") is awkward to me. As one campmeeting minister once said, many of us applaud in church with a raised little finger that no one sees or hears. I enjoy hearing the "amen's" and "whatch it brother" responses heard is some Adventist churches but I personally only manage to successfully applaud with my hands (although I'm usually restricted to that little finger slightly raised). The Bible talks about people shouting praise. Our clapping is praise to God and agreement with the words and spirit of the group rather that a simple approval of the group itself. |
